Scope

ADVANCE INFORMATION - THIS IS NOT (YET) A BOOKABLE VISIT

Following on from the talk to the Society by Kenneth Harries last year I have arranged a visit to the Tyne and Wear Metro.

The visit is on a Monday to support a weekend in Newcastle should anyone desire to do so.

There are two options for this visit:

Option 1 - Full Day (9am - 5pm): The visit will be to South Gosforth for the new Class 555 train, depot control room, mainline signalling control centre and relay room. Participants will then travel to South Shields for the learning centre comprising signalling school and driver training centre.

Option 2 - Later start (10am - 5pm): The visit will be to South Gosforth for the new Class 555 train, depot control room, mainline signalling control centre and relay room. Participants will then travel to view a level crossing and associated equipment.

All times are from/to Newcastle Central station.

There is quite a bit of metro travel and walking between sites.

I will shortly put both options out as separate visits. If Option 1 becomes full with at least two reserves then that is the visit that will go ahead. If not then I will progress the visit with the most registrants. I will make a decision 2 weeks after the visits have opened for booking.

You can reserve places on both visits.

YOU WILL RECEIVE NEW FLYERS SHORTLY TO BOOK WITH OPTION 1 FLYER APPEARING FIRST AND OPTION 2 FLYER A DAY LATER.
