We (The Signal and Electrical Engineers’ Technical Society) are committed to keeping your information private. By 'your information' we mean any information about you that you provide to us.

Information we collect

When you apply for membership we will ask you to provide some information about yourself for identification and contact purposes. This information may be stored on paper and/or electronically.

How we use your information

We will use your information to inform you by letter, telephone, text (or similar) messages, email and other electronic methods matters relating to the operation of the Society that may be of interest to you.
We may pass your information to external bodies where it is necessary to do so to carry out the Society’s function (eg list of names and affiliations of attendees on visits to the visit host). We will also pass your information on to external bodies where we are required to do so by law.
Should you cease to be a member of the Society we may retain your information for legitimate Society purposes.

Management of your information

We will update our records when you inform us that your details have changed.
You are able to view (and correct) all personal information held on you by logging onto our website.
We will continue to review and assess the quality of our information.
We will observe the rights granted to you under applicable privacy and data protection laws and will ensure that queries relating to privacy issues are promptly and transparently dealt with.
We will ensure we have appropriate physical and technological security measures to protect your information regardless of where it is held.
