The Society's Annual General Meeting will be followed by a talk on the Evolution of the European Train Control System (ETCS).

Summary of the talk

The Digital Railway initiative is undertaking the deployment of the European Rail Traffic Management System across the UK network in the coming decades. Since the start of the Cambrian project in 2006, the industry has made great steps in refining ETCS technology and understanding its deployment. In this presentation, Chris Winter, Technical Lead for ETCS at SNC Lavalin, will discuss how ETCS technology and experience has advanced since the UK’s initial deployment, and how projects around the world are working to capitalise on these developments.

The Speaker

Chris Winter joined SNC Lavalin in 2014 and is the Technical Lead for ETCS. Prior to this Chris worked with Network Rail on the Digital Railway deployment and Cambrian Project.
