Talk summary

From its beginnings as an experiment in visualising timetable data, OpenTrainTimes has grown to be one of the most popular Open Data powered rail websites. Peter Hicks, Director of OpenTrainTimes Ltd, will give a presentation on how the website developed, how the data is gathered and how real-time maps are drawn and developed.

The speaker

Peter has over 20 years experience in the IT industry in a variety of technical and consultancy roles for media, entertainment and transport organisations. He runs the popular and well-respected OpenTrainTimes website, born out of a desire to work with rail data, to make it more accessible and open to developers. He set up and curates the Open Rail Data Wiki and openraildata-talk mailing list, helping others work with and understand rail data.
